Train up to move forward
In this period of economic recession Careers Education is even more essential. At the moment to be in full time education is the best place to be- to train up for the future. Hopefully as present pupils move on, the prospects will be higher. A young person’s career is their pathway through learning and work. The aim of the Careers Department in Drumglass High School is to provide a planned programme of classes and activities to help pupils make decisions and plan their careers, both in school and after they leave.
All pupils in Years 8 to 14 have 1 period per week in the careers suite with a qualified careers teacher. The careers suite is both modern and well resourced. (view careers suite: picture)
Key Stage 3: Education for Employability:
All pupils in Years 8, 9 and 10 follow the CCEA Education for Employability programme, which is currently being offered to schools on a pilot basis.
Education for Employability is central to the role of the curriculum just as work is central to most people’s lives. The programme incorporates four key dimensions:
· Work in the Local and Global Economy

· Skills and Qualities for Work
To date the Employability Pilot has been very successful, being enjoyed by both pupils and staff.

Year 11:
